Certification & Inspection

For 20 years QLD Building and Fire Services has worked very closely with Australia Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS), State and Local Government, Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), Architects, Builders, Engineers and designers to ensure that fire tested systems are designed correctly to the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and to ensure services and products are installed in accordance with the tested system.

As members of the FPA, including active participation in reviewing and proofing of Australian Standards and industry documents ensures QLD Building and Fire Services is abreast of the latest trends, legal changes and issues affecting our industry.

QLD Building and Fire Services is fully insured, licensed with professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Process for Q. A.

QLD Building & Fire Services Pty Ltd can provide Q.A. inspections and certification, if required, for any rectification works. We can oversee the identified works and do site visits at critical inspection points, thus providing an economical solution. The following Q.A. forms can be provided on acceptance of any proposals and explained to the relevant contractors / staff.

The following outlines the process for certification:

  • Mark up of plans by QLD Building and Fire Services (plans provided in Adobe PDF)
  • Identification / clarification of products and systems to be installed for each application.
  • Set up Q.A. system, as per A.S. 4072.1
  • Supply of register template for penetrations.
  • Supply of identification labels.
  • Meet with relevant operatives to briefly and go through the Q. A. system and expectations.

Inspection proposal scope:

  • Confirmation of building classification, BCA/NCC & A.S. requirements.
  • Written reports with identified breaches in accordance with legislation,
  • Formatted if required for QBCC submissions.
  • Marked up plans & photographs of breaches.
  • Liaison with on-site managers / body corporate to access dwellings.
  • Invasive inspections will only be carried out once written confirmation is received.
